After several beautiful days we left for a dusty bus ride to Kalaw at 4.30h in the morning (unlucky for us, travel is always as early here). There we hired a guide for a three-day trek to the Inle Lake through several villages and including two overnight stays. One in a Danu village (with the guides family: wife + 10 children) and one in a monastery. Due to the fact that we walked 7 hours each day (mostly without shade) and that we didn’t sleep very well both nights on the wooden floor shared with rats fighting over the food, we were really looking forward to a soft bed, a hot shower and Italian pasta (recommended by other travellers we met in Bagan). Sadly, when we got to the shower it was cold due to a power cut, something happening very frequently in Myanmar. But the Pasta was great! And the Strawberry Milkshake!!!
