In Bagan we met many fun people with whom we even managed to get up for sunrise on a Pagoda (!). We explored the stunning scenery by bike (Chinese & very uncomfortable). At the bigger temples we met our package tourists again, travelling by air-con bus – and of course many souvenir traders. We fled to the smaller temples where we thought to be alone, but within minutes we were surrounded by kids on bikes trying to sell postcards. How do they manage that? But don’t worry, even if this sounds negative – we really enjoyed our time in Bagan and the traders were definitely not as aggressive as in Mandalay. If you said “no” they packed their things and even started talking to you about other things (even giving you tips where to go for sunset).
